You know, I believe it's true what they say:
If it doesn't have snow on it, or hasn't erupted lately, then it doesn't count as a mountain.

Not that you were worried, but we in Seattle are well out of harm's way of Mt. St. Helens, which is a couple hundred miles to the southeast. Northwesterners mostly regard St. Helens with fondness and good cheer: "Aww, that's our little uppity volcano. Oooh! Cool steam plume! Do another one!"

Yeah. Volcanoes basically are cool. Or maybe I just think so because of Mt. Doom.

As a former Renton resident, I was wondering if you guys were getting anything, ash-wise? Not sure what way the wind was blowing, but I'm thinking it wasn't northward...

Nah, nothing. We can't even see the steam plume from here, and it's a clear day. I don't think there was much ash anyway - mostly steam, and it didn't go very high. Though we'll see what it does next week. ;)

Yep yep. Better St. Helens than Rainier, is what we figure. :)

LOL, I've tried to respond to your post twice already...but for some reason or another, I haven't been able to. Strange. Let's try again, shall we? Third time's a charm! *g*

Glad you are safe where you are! It's been such a weird year, weather-wise and all (not to mention the earthquake and now the volcanic eruption!). Let's hope the rest of the year is calm and peaceful for us all. :-)

Love and hugs!

Thanks! Yeah, this will be nothing compared to the hurricanes, since the mountain is so isolated. It's mostly just a local fireworks show. :) But one never knows for sure with Mother Nature, so I thank you for the good thoughts, and share in the hope for a calmer year ahead. Whew.

Every time I see anything on the news about it, I think of you, hon. *hugs* I hope that everything is beautiful and peaceful where you are.

Here's to serene weather....and four more years of Bush/Cheney. ;-)
