I'd like to visit Alaska sometime - never been there. Not sure how well I'd deal with the super-cold and the snow, but I would love to see the aurora. And of course the mountains and evergreens are gorgeous, from the pictures I've seen!

Hey, that's not bad! The top 5 for me were 4 of the 6 major cities near me (I said I liked culture) and the 1 place in the Pacific Northwest I've actually lived (Ashland).

Ashland is cute - very good theatre productions, of course.

Kind of odd that they didn't give me ANY Oregon towns, actually, considering I'm from Oregon and it's not all that different from Washington...

My girlfriend and I are moving to Bellingham in July. Guess which town was my #2?

And to think that my only real reason for wanting to live there is "That's where the woman I want to marry is going to grad school."

Bellingham seems pleasant, from the little time I've spent there (on the way thru, going to or from Canada, generally).

My only reason for living in this CA university town is that my husband was going to grad school here. And now I am too. I figure it's a perfectly good reason!

I'd move to Bellingham, WA if I were you for two reasons:

1] One of my all-time favorite bands, Death Cab For Cutie, originated there.

and

2] It is a cute little Main Street-type community not that far from the bustle of Seattle.

I noticed that most of my top ten were in the south or California. Odd. *grin* I didn't list all of mine, as the kids pulled me away from the computer after I'd looked at two pages of "top spots".
