I've heard of swimmers doing it. But doesn't it add a little bit of softness? I think stubble is evil, so unless a person plans on shaving their arms daily, I say definately no. Maybe if the girl has boy-like arm hair, but in that case I'd say trim, not shave. Stubble really is evil.

I've heard of some women doing that, but I wouldn't. It doesn't sound too comfortable. :-\

Bad, and counterproductive as it will make the hair coarser and easier to see... who cares about arm hair? There are plenty of men very turned on by lots of arm hair :)

It is a myth that it makes more hair grow back etc. but I'm sure a very reliable source (e.g. someone random I met while drunk) told me that it does make the hairs rougher on the ends, and therefore easier to see...

Man-like arm hair on a woman isn't very attractive. Either trim, wax, or Nair it off, but not shave.

I can't conceive of shaving your arm hair...I mean if it was bothering you, personally, then look into electrolysis or somehow getting it thinned (maybe waxing it??), but otherwise, no way.

I've never met a woman who shaves her arms. Underarms, yes, but arms proper? I would say it's a bad idea, because it would lead to stubble quickly. Waxing or bleaching is probably a better idea.

Nah. It's annoying enough to shave legs, or armpits; but arms? Maybe if they're really really almost-Chewbacca sort of hairy; but not generally. That damn "hairless skin" obsession is bad enough as it is.

I just deleted my last comment because I realized you meant arms and not armpits. (Hooked on phonics didn't work for me.)

Back on topic: I have a friend who does it, but her arms are much hairier than mine (plus, she's Indian and for certain occasions, she puts hennas on her arms). If someone wants to, go ahead, but I don't because I don't have that much arm hair.

Bah. I am still trying to hunt down and kill whoever thought it was a good idea to shave legs. Now with the arms? Feh.

Admittedly those with copious arm hair may find it necessary, but in this case I suggest a trim, rather than a shave to keep the hair fine.

I always assumed that bleaching, waxing, or Nair-ing was the norm. All of them, along with shaving, are life-long commitments, I'd suggest.

I dislike feminine shaving in all forms. I prefer the fuzz. Also, IMHO it's a way for men to make women child-like and easier to control. Looong story, but if you want me to elaborate, just poke me.

I think arm shaving is OTT. I do some gals who do it, they advise its because thay have awfully dark and thick hair. Personally, I would never do it.

If hair grows somewhere, its usually meant to be there - by shaving it you're just giving yourself a hell of a lot of work and upkeep!

i'm wondering, after reading all these replies, if you've stumbled on another social taboo...very interesting.

my advice: stand exactly two feet from a mirror and peer at your arms. if you can't really see it, it's likely that no one else will.

if the hair borders on a Belushi-type crop, it's best to trim. shaving is incedentally really fing bad for your skin, and the best shave is the worst one: against the grain. thank goodness for personal trimmers, i say.....

Under arms? Or actual arms? I tried the arms when I was a young teen, just to be weird. Not that there was *that* much to shave, LOL! It was not fun. Too itchy when it started growing back, and looked pretty stupid as well.

Who knows why I did it? LOL!

My daughter has a LOT of hair. I don't, not even my legs. I had a hard time sympathizing but eventually she won her case. It was just too embarassing for her any longer. 14 is an important year for social development and she was simply adamant about not having dark forests of hair on her arms. She started shaving it before she asked me what to do...

I told her not to shave her arms as I felt it would grow back even worse and leave unsightly bumps and whatnot. She did anyway and regretted it, coming to me to fix the problem. What we've done instead is compromise, waxing. It has seemed to work, after a few sessions her armhair has gotten lighter and less prevalent.

Let this be a lesson... Mom's know! (:

I don't. My arms are really hairy, but cause its blonde its not as nasty (it just looks really thick). It's not owrth the hassle, especiall when hardly anyone notices now or will notice.
