1. Have you seen "Pride & Prejudice" with Colin Firth? That's one of the best! Also....let's see...."Here Comes Mr. Jordan" starring Robert Montgomery. It's a classic, another of my ultimate favourites.
2. I Capture the Castle by Dodie Smith. It's a must-read! :-)
3. Joss Stone, "The Soul Sessions" - She's absolutely awesome!

a movie (well, a few):

avalon - consider that there are many movies that earn praise for their style and presentation where content might otherwise lack. this is a visually pleasing film even though it is through sepia tones. the music is great. the faux operetta 'Avalon' reminds me of hans zimmer's aria in hannibal. for anyone who enjoys the dystopia genre (bladerunner, 1984, fahrenheit 451 etc.) this will be a contemporary addition. for those who were disappointed; you might not like this. from the same director who did the anime movie 'ghost in the shell'. a japanese director doing a polish language film. it's pretty interesting.

love honour and obey - ensemble cast of sorts. jonny lee miller, jude law, ray windstone, etc. another take on the brit gangster genre (ya know, the lock stock and two smoking barrels sort of thing). dark comedy and edited in an "interesting" way. i liked the movie alot, but apparently alot of people hate it too.

a book: hmm.. i just started reading 'double indemnity' by james m cain. just an average pulp crime novel. but i like that sort of thing.

unwound - leaves turn inside you (one of the best albums to come out of seattle :))

xui xui - knife play, a promise, fag patrol or the soon released fabulous muscles (their cover of jd's ceremony is worth hearing, then you get an idea of what they're about)

Movie: The Gods Must Be Crazy. Charming, thought-provoking, and very, very funny.

Book: To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee.

Musical Artist: The group Seven Nations (Celtic-inspired; rock music with bagpipes; very attractive lead singer usually wears a kilt). My favorite album of theirs is Big Dog.

An LJ user not on your friends list: wikdsushi. Not your type politically, but mad as a hatter and lots of fun. Oh, and majorly into writing strange and wonderful slash. :-)

Yeay, fun, I'll join in!

A book on - guess what? - language, and a couple of them French things, if it ever strikes your fancy to check them out for the exotic value ;)

1. A movie: Amelie, a truly, truly wonderful, poetic, weird, feel-good fairy-tale. Highly recommended to anyone!

2. A book: Made in America by Bill Bryson, basically a book on language in America, full of anecdotes and general zip and pizzazz. A few factual errors though, and I think some of Bryson's liberal slant, but hilarious nonetheless.

3. A musical artist, song, or album: anything by the band Indochine, especially from the Paradize album. It's hard to describe them, but they're sort of a mix between The Cure, Depeche Mode, Dandy Wharhols, Duran Duran, with some Nine Inch Nails and Marilyn Manson thrown in for good measure. Neo-80ies new wave with strong goth undertones. That's quite a mix ;)
