Some 1024 x 768 scenery for you, from last weekend's jaunt to the wild and foggy Washington coast...

I can't tell you how happy I am that fall seems to have arrived here already, when going by the calendar it is still technically summer. Rock on!

In other news, [livejournal.com profile] radiofreecarbon and I went CD shopping for the first time in perhaps a year, yesterday. Came up with:
Doves: Lost Souls
The Frames: For the Birds
Matt Pond PA: The Nature of Maps
Matt Pond PA: The Green Fury
Preston School of Industry: All This Sounds Gas
(I will leave it to [livejournal.com profile] radiofreecarbon to explain, if he wants to, why "Preston School of Industry" is an amusing and significant band name.)

All very pleasant so far. [livejournal.com profile] ten_fifteen and [livejournal.com profile] alltimeqb will be pleased to know that we picked up the two Matt Pond PA CD's independently of each other: in my browsing I grabbed one, and in his browsing Steve grabbed the other. When we regrouped to compare findings, we discovered this coincidence. Heh. We're such alterna-dorks.

Those pictures are gorgeous.

God how I miss the PNW. *sigh*

I guess the Matt Pond PA sampler I was going to burn for you will have to revert into a Matt Pond rarities sampler now. :) Kevon and I are quite happy that you both picked up Matt Pond PA albums. Typically, Matt Pond PA dosen't have that big of a following in the PNW so any support out there from folks like you all is great.

Here's another little number for you: The Weakerthans - "(Manifest)". Enjoy!

BEAUTIFUL. I just set the top one as my wallpaper and it looks perfect on my monitor. Thank you!

I lived in the PNW for two decades. Now I'm in the midwest. Little reminders of the beauty of home like this are always very, very welcome. You just made my afternoon a little more pleasant. *hugs*

I jeal!

Excellent idea! Which I will now steal.

Glad you like them. I know how you feel - this was the kind of stuff I missed during my 3-year exile in California. Hope you get to come back sometime!

Thank you! I kind of wish they were a bit clearer, but digital cameras, what can you do... I give all the credit to the scenery. :)

Rarities - sweet! :) Yeah, we were pretty stunned that they had two separate Matt Pond PA albums there at all. In fact, the store's selection was rather incredible. They had nearly everything on my wish list, which I've been keeping for several years now and which contains a bunch of stuff I usually can't find in brick-and-mortar stores. It was difficult to keep the purchases under $100. Quite nice to have this right there a few blocks away from us - and this isn't even the trendiest part of Seattle.

Weakerthans seem catchy; I'll put them on the list too. The name seems familiar. I'm thinking KEXP here plays them sometimes...

Aww, thank you! Happy to share the grand lovely gloominess of the PNW. Goodness knows I missed it while I was down in the hot, dry, boring Cali-valley. At least you'll get some pretty snowfalls in the midwest...

Heheh - almost as good as "that takes the rad out of everything," which comes courtesy of [livejournal.com profile] ten_fifteen's high school students.

I visit every so often. I actually am always on the lookout for a job in my chosen field of employment (TM), but that's not easy to find...especially over there.

Do you have those photos on your site? If so I may use them for my lj background, if you don't mind...but I need another html link in order to do that.

The link given there is my own site, and you're welcome to use them as background. I haven't messed with the background on my journal (clearly), so I'm not sure what you need. I figured I'd leave the pics where they are anyway, so if you want you can just link them; or you can put a copy of them on some other site and link that. Whatever works. :)

Where exactly on your site are they? (I need the URLs, that's what I meant to say before). :) Yeah, I was mostly clueless about tweaking with LJ, but my brother's friend Carson is obnoxiously good at that sort of thing, so I bought him a 2-month account and within five minutes of first hearing about LJ, he figured out how to change the background and such. Sickening, really.

Oh - heheh. Guess I used the "img src" tag, so the URL's aren't quite as evident.
They are:
http://home.earthlink.net/~ladyirony/Cove.JPG
and
http://home.earthlink.net/~ladyirony/Foggy%20forest.JPG

I pretty much only went to a "paid" account so that I could have 10 icons. :)

Pics are beautiful - and a bit Middle-Earthy too!

But what do you do when your 10 icons are filled up??

Then you agonize over which ones to swap out in favor of the new designs you covet so deeply.

Glad you like the pics. I thought of Lothlorien and the Shire a bit, while I was there and while viewing the pics afterward, but didn't want to mention it for fear of raising my visible geekhood to dangerous levels. :)

What's it mean about me, then, that my first thought was "It looks like New Zealand!" ... ? ... if you know what I mean ...

Also gave me a real tug for the northwest. I'm hoping to be there for a few days next month. Friend is staying on Whidbey Island.

Ooh, pretty! Very Lothlorien. I'm so glad Washington's fogginess can be of use to you. :)

I think they could have filmed a good deal of LOTR in the Northwest...but then, I'm more than a little biased and have conflicting interests regarding stalking the actors and stuff.

Whidbey in October? Cool. You'd be in a fine position to see our rare drizzly season. (Lasts only nine months! Hurry!) :) Would probably look similar to those photos, though, in any case.
