Harry Potter and the Flux Capacitor

I finally read The Cursed Child. Thoughts:

1) Wow, people weren’t kidding about Albus/Scorpius being practically a canon couple. I’m going, “sweet! we finally get an on-page HP gay relationship?” …haha. No. Of course not. Truly Johnlock levels of Suspiciously Close Friendship. It’s like Rowling wanted people to write All the Fanfic but didn’t want to actually go so far as to include the gayness in canon.

2) I do not see Cedric Diggory turning Death Eater because of losing the tournament. Hufflepuffs roll with humiliation, plus EVERYONE at Hogwarts gets embarrassing spells put on them, like, daily.

3) I know wizards aren’t that into Muggle stuff, but honestly, they haven’t heard of DNA tests to put this “Voldemort’s your dad” rumor to rest?

4) If you are going to bring Time-Turners back into it, and you feel you must save someone, YOU CHOOSE FRED.

5) Scorpius is darling. Seriously. He makes this whole Harry Potter and the Flux Capacitor episode worth it.

6) I feel so much better about my own plot flaws now.

I didn't like this work. The plot line of the BTTF movies doesn't make sense. The plot line of the Doctor Who 2-parter "The Big Bang/The Pandorica Opens" has a logical breakdown. TCC was worse by far.

Note: I don't like the Epilogue at the end of Book 7.

What TCC reminds me of is all those "Darth Vadar had a secret Sith apprentice" stories.

Yeah, I felt it made for interesting fanfic but not the best canon. Time travel is way too complicated to write lightly - I never take it on myself as a writer! I trust Doctor Who with it, but not many others. :)

I will never read this, so I'm glad someone else I know did! (My sister did and she told me to not even bother, haha.)

#1: There was definitely enough Albus/Scorpius out there even before this play. Source: me, the Teddy/James shipper who is constantly groaning about how much Al/Scorp exists in the very few fics I want to read. :P

I mean. Ugh, yes, but also I'm kinda relieved because it's kept this piece of "canon" mostly out of the fic I read, haha.

Ha, true - sometimes it's a relief that canon doesn't elaborate on, and mess up, the aspect we're most interested in!
