I'm considering another Halloween literature read-aloud (see 2010's Project Dracula for example). Maybe in honor of the Hobbit movie coming out soon, we could use a spooky section from that. What's the most Halloweenish part? Bunch o' giant spiders? Smaug? Other? Also, would you guys be up for reading parts and actually recording them on time?

If so: yay! Official sign-up and assignment of lines to follow.

Volunteering, of course :) And I'd definitely suggest some of the Smaug bits, the spiders are cliche.

Hurray! Thank you. And yeah, in perusing the book just now, Smaug roaring up and torching the mountainside is scarier than the other bits. Most of the other parts have some touch of wryness in the narrative to lighten the mood. I'd sort of want to do Riddles in the Dark, but it's more clever than creepy.

Man... I would love to do this! But with the fire at my house this past weekend I have no idea where my mic is. :(

Eek! Hope it's all okay over there. Well, I haven't organized the read-aloud yet, but even the built-in mic in the average computer doesn't do too bad, usually. Better than a phone recording, at least.
