Two Star Wars fandom tidbits

1. A pretty darn impressive bunch of Photoshop jobs melding Star Wars themes/characters into classical art. Weirdly good, and probably even more so if I knew a bit more about art. Thanks to naill_renfro for finding those.

2. Heard on NPR's "Wait Wait, Don't Tell Me," when Carrie Fisher was a guest and in a mood to share gossip: "Alec Guinness once gave Mark Hamill 20 pounds to go away." She added that Mark was a movie buff and kept pestering Guinness with questions. And yes, he apparently took the money and went away.

From what I've gathered, Slave Leia in her metal bikini imprinted a *lot* of young guys. Maybe you and I just don't relate... :)

Alas, that movie peaked too soon; after Leia asphyxiated Jabba, the rest was just a stark warning of what was to come two and a half decades later.

When I was a young male in the RotJ audience, sure, I appreciated the spectacle, but no imprinting took place... I was more interested in Oola, the Twi'lek who got eaten by the Rancor: http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Oola. (OK, I confess, actually, I had to look up all three just now -- Oola, Twi'lek, and Rancor.)

Oh, thanks for linking those Star Wars manipulations! I really, really like the one of the girl and R2. (The original artist, Bouguereau I think, is one of my favorites.) And, though I'm pretty sure you've heard this a million times from others, I LOVED YOUR CONDENSED LOTR SCRIPTS! Thanks to you, whenever my Mom and I watch the Council of Elrond scene in FotR, and Legolas says, "This is no mere Ranger, this Aragorn, son of Arathorn!" we always hear, "And my boyfriend!" in our heads. Can't tell you how often we quote everything else from your spoof. Again, thank you!
