Thank you all for being such rock stars and sending your lines in! I think the end result is quite cool and fun. Here's a list of who said what, with non-LJers attributed as they wished. I'm sure I don't need to remind you, but no dissing anyone's voice or accent. Feel free, of course, to tell people how cute or sexy they sound, though. (Well, don't say the little kids sound sexy. That's just weird.)

Anyone who wishes to host and mirror the file may do so and leave the link here. MediaFire was just the fastest option for the moment. Hope it works...

Happy Halloween!

[livejournal.com profile] mikailborg: In the dark shadow of the grove, on the margin of the brook, he beheld something huge, misshapen and towering.

Amanda, age 5: It stirred not, but seemed gathered up in the gloom, like some gigantic monster ready to spring upon the traveller.

[livejournal.com profile] katymulvey: The hair of the affrighted pedagogue rose upon his head with terror. What was to be done?

[livejournal.com profile] astroman_rich: To turn and fly was now too late; and besides, what chance was there of escaping ghost or goblin, if such it was, which could ride upon the wings of the wind?

Ben, age 6: Summoning up, therefore, a show of courage, he demanded in stammering accents, "Who are you?"

[livejournal.com profile] serai1: He received no reply. He repeated his demand in a still more agitated voice. Still there was no answer.

[livejournal.com profile] bluesound: Once more he cudgelled the sides of the inflexible Gunpowder, and, shutting his eyes, broke forth with involuntary fervor into a psalm tune.

[livejournal.com profile] joemorf: Just then the shadowy object of alarm put itself in motion, and with a scramble and a bound stood at once in the middle of the road.

[livejournal.com profile] kalquessa: Though the night was dark and dismal, yet the form of the unknown might now in some degree be ascertained.

[livejournal.com profile] darthbeckman: He appeared to be a horseman of large dimensions, and mounted on a black horse of powerful frame.

[livejournal.com profile] lalael: He made no offer of molestation or sociability, but kept aloof on one side of the road, jogging along on the blind side of old Gunpowder, who had now got over his fright and waywardness.

[livejournal.com profile] lemonlye: Ichabod, who had no relish for this strange midnight companion, and bethought himself of the adventure of Brom Bones with the Galloping Hessian, now quickened his steed in hopes of leaving him behind.

[livejournal.com profile] shmuel: The stranger, however, quickened his horse to an equal pace. Ichabod pulled up, and fell into a walk, thinking to lag behind--the other did the same.

[livejournal.com profile] kali_kali: His heart began to sink within him; he endeavored to resume his psalm tune, but his parched tongue clove to the roof of his mouth, and he could not utter a stave.

Mrs. B: There was something in the moody and dogged silence of this pertinacious companion that was mysterious and appalling. It was soon fearfully accounted for.

Dave: On mounting a rising ground, which brought the figure of his fellow-traveller in relief against the sky, gigantic in height, and muffled in a cloak, Ichabod was horror-struck on perceiving that he was headless!

Dr. B: ...but his horror was still more increased on observing that the head, which should have rested on his shoulders, was carried before him on the pommel of his saddle!

[livejournal.com profile] kimuracarter: His terror rose to desperation; he rained a shower of kicks and blows upon Gunpowder, hoping by a sudden movement to give his companion the slip; but the spectre started full jump with him.

[livejournal.com profile] dirae: Away, then, they dashed through thick and thin; stones flying and sparks flashing at every bound.

[livejournal.com profile] all_timeqb: Ichabod's flimsy garments fluttered in the air, as he stretched his long lank body away over his horse's head, in the eagerness of his flight.

[livejournal.com profile] lemonlye (with someone else in the background): They had now reached the road which turns off to Sleepy Hollow; but Gunpowder, who seemed possessed with a demon, instead of keeping up it, made an opposite turn, and plunged headlong downhill to the left.

[livejournal.com profile] new_iconoclast: This road leads through a sandy hollow shaded by trees for about a quarter of a mile, where it crosses the bridge famous in goblin story; and just beyond swells the green knoll on which stands the whitewashed church.

[livejournal.com profile] allisona: As yet the panic of the steed had given his unskilful rider an apparent advantage in the chase, but just as he had got halfway through the hollow, the girths of the saddle gave way, and he felt it slipping from under him.

[livejournal.com profile] radiofreecarbon: He seized it by the pommel, and endeavored to hold it firm, but in vain; and had just time to save himself by clasping old Gunpowder round the neck, when the saddle fell to the earth, and he heard it trampled under foot by his pursuer.

Rar, I managed to forget about this completely whilst consumed by other things! I do apologise. You are a funky lady for arranging such a thing, however.

Aw, well, we missed your pretty accent, but I got to read another line and get Z babbling in the background, so that was fun. :D

Happy Halloween!

Aha--thank you! I tried the FTP first and couldn't connect, but this time it worked and now I see it there. Cool!

The background music is by Midnight Syndicate. They do stuff that resembles soundtracks to horror movies. I originally had A-ha's "Take On Me" as the background, but it just didn't seem quite right... ;)

That was just amazing!!! And the range of voices was wonderful; I especially loved hearing from the children!

Great idea, and perfect for Halloween! Thank you for sharing.

So much fun! Nice job with the music, that totally ties it together.

A hearty "rock on!" to Dave and his "dun dun duunnn!" Hee!

Lemondrop will have his voice heard, thank you very much!

Thanks for your help and enthusiasm!

Ah, I figured laryngitis was in the mix somewhere, but also thought you used it well toward sounding eerie and spooky. Well done. :)

I just want to say that I used to be in Radio Theater, and I think everyone was great. ^_^ This is awesome. In fact, using voice posts, you could create your own radio theater on LJ! Neat!

Anyway, my favorites? [livejournal.com profile] astroman_rich for sounding so natural, [livejournal.com profile] joemorf for being the most dramatic (and professional!), and, um, [livejournal.com profile] bluesound for being the sexiest. <.<

Thank you! You and yours added some really great parts. :D

Hehehe...[livejournal.com profile] astroman_rich and his family were great as well, obviously longtime story readers. I told [livejournal.com profile] joemorf the same thing--that he sounded like a true professional. My husband heard his line and said, "Wait, I want to redo mine." :) (Kidding mostly.) And as for [livejournal.com profile] bluesound, well, you see now why I happily indulged his tendency to ramble when I visited him in Edinburgh. ;)

How fascinating! For my part, I'm seriously impressed with the 5-y-o who so clearly pronounces "gathered," "gigantic," and "traveller." And I love the regional accents!

Hee! No, I'm not that good, though I can usually make a decent guess. It's complicated by the matter of people usually having lived in a few different places in their lives, and having their accent colored various ways.

I finally listened to this while looking at the list. :( I know; I'm slow. We are the bomb - except me. I sound dumb IRL, much better in my head, and that cheap mike didn't help. But it is preserved in my iTunes forever.

Or until my next hard drive crash.

I don't think that [livejournal.com profile] joemorf is a real person; I think you composited him out of '30s and '40s radio clips.

If it weren't totally inappropriate, I'd remark that I would consider doing [livejournal.com profile] serai1 and [livejournal.com profile] katymulvey based on voice alone.

Glad you liked it! I think you sounded fine, as obviously the directors of "The Sound of Music" did too. (Are you doing that, or did plans change?)

I don't have the skill to invent [livejournal.com profile] joemorf, but somebody must have. If not, he needs his own podcast.

If it weren't totally inappropriate, I'd remark that I would consider doing serai1 and katymulvey based on voice alone.

Well, it's a good thing you didn't remark on it, then. ;) Actually, I imagine you've made their day.

Still doing Sound of Music. I must sing better than I speak. :)

Rehearsals start next week; we open on Feb 15 and run through Mar 16 (22 performances!)

Cool! Theater is so much fun, even if you have prima donnas trying to run things. 22 performances isn't enough to get sick of it; you'll love it to the end. :)
