Today my husband was flipping through a magazine with our son, and when they encountered a photo of Winona Ryder, baby Z pointed at it and said, "Mama." He was insistent about repeating it even when Steve tried to explain that it wasn't actually Mama.

(By the way, Steve thinks maybe it was this picture.)

So there you go: to the baby who spends all day with me, I look just like Winona Ryder. Sweet!

I had to refrain from mentioning shoplifting in my post. :)

Luckily I've never shoplifted, unlike her. On the other hand, I've never been Johnny Depp's girlfriend, unlike her...

Sons love their Moms. That's just all there is to it.

As an Armenian friend of mine said, his huge brother is a teddy bear until someone implies their Mother is less than a Saint at which time people start getting hurt and someone then calls the police. When they come, the huge guy (now in cuffs) meekly explains that dude insulted his Mother.

In New York, the Police understand and go lightly on the charges.

I do like what I've heard about New York cops. :)

I think Z may just be applying the word to most women as well as to me, since lately he started saying "Mama" regarding just about any woman in a photo, whether she looks like me or not.

There is a picture of you from a few years back where you are outside with sunglasses holding your hair back (or, either, you have the sunglasses on)... like Z., I always thought you bore a resemblance to Ryder from her Heathers days in that photo.

Moz and I are really growing apart in looks, sadly. ;)

Other people have actually said, a few times, that I look like Ryder--including her kind of awful blonde cheerleader look in Edward Scissorhands. (I was blonder my senior year of high school.)

But now he says "Mama" regarding just about any photograph of a woman relatively near my age, so this may not mean anything after all.

Hi Winona! :) My son pointed at a huge Frodo poster in my room and said "Papa". Needless to say I squeed while Other Half was not pleased at all. :)

Apparently a certain branch of HMV is easy to shoplift from in Edinburgh, I found this out by sitting behind two ex-heroin addicts discussing it on a bus last year.

I think I'm getting old, I seem to have stories that link into almost everything these days.
