You. Yes, you. How and why did you select your username, if you don't mind sharing? (Ignore if patently obvious; e.g., "Uh, it's my actual name.")

I'll get the ball rolling.
LemonLye is the proper way to write my nick, but LJ doesn't allow capital letters. This was one of my first chat nicknames, chosen about six years ago when I was way, way into The Cure. Source: their song "The Caterpillar"; lyric: "Dust my lemon lies with powder pink and sweet..." I originally was LemonLie, but later tweaked the spelling, just to be cute. It has proved a handy username at lots of websites, since generally nobody has ever registered it before.

Isn't that fascinating? OK, your turn.

Nicosia: a city, on a map, in Kim Stanley Robin's "mars trilogy." sounded cool. Sounded gender neutral. Tacked on an N. Nicosian. Easier to pronounce. Liked the way it looked.

Later on, I discovered that while it had, for me, sci fi geeky origin, it's also a city in Turkey, which is cool. Nicosia.

And the velvet underground had a person in their band, Nico. Since I like the band, that's kinda cool.

I much prefer Nico to my real name now.

Cool! Would never have guessed. Wondered if there was some connection to "nicotine", originally... :)

I have a very deep, nearly monotone voice. When I was in basic training, I was one of the tallest recruits (and I'm only 5'11.) Those traits, combined with my knowledge of the Star Wars universe, earned me the nickname "Darth." Beckman is my real last name.

i like how you came up with your name.
in regards to mine,i'm sure you can figure out where i got took.
as for tavie,i wanted a scottish first name and not only did i like how it sounded, especially with took, but it is a derivation of tavish, which means twin and i'm a gemini,so i thought that was cool. i like how it can also be short for octavia, because 8's are supposed to figure prominently in my numerology or something...i was born on the 17th...plus i also like that an 8 sideways looks like the symbol for infinity.

Lots of good reasons... I can appreciate that!

Everyone has thought about their usernames faaaar more than me.

Ages ago, when I first started using the internet, I signed up at Delphi Forums. I tried some usernames but they'd all been taken. I put in "Rachel" and it said I couldn't have that, but gave me a selection of rachelxxxx so I just picked one at random. I use it here too so I don't have to remember lots of logins.

What a dull story.

mine is rather boring and quite self-explanatory.. my initials are r.a.m. (shhhhh!) and when I created my journal 2 and a half years ago.. I lived in Austin, Texas. I was thinking of changing my journal name, but I rather like it, so, for the time being.. ramaustin it is :)

did you like "the smiths" too? they were/are still, one of my favorite bands even though they have been broken up for some 15 years or so now...

Of course. I think they packaged them together with the Cure, at the record stores... "Oh, buying a copy of 'Disintegration'? Then you better take 'The Queen is Dead,' too..." :) Have a couple of Morrissey's solo albums, too--very similar.

Eep. Allow me to jump in and give my meagre contribution. The 'Hollin' part was taken from a place in LotR (go figure) in which lots of Holly grew. Since my name's Holly, and I love LotR with a passion, I chose that as my user name...yes, it's a weak connection I know. The 'Elf' part is there because they're my favourite race in the triology. Actually, hobbits are probably first, but would people ever take me seriously if I was called: 'HollinHobbit'? Or worse - HollyHobbit 0_0

Me? Obsessed? Why yes, yes I am

Hmm, yes...I adore the hobbits, but must agree that Hollinelf sounds much cooler than HollinHobbit. Hehe. Anyway, elves are pretty.

<a href"http://www.wonderella.com/pamphlets/pipu.htm">pipu</a> is the name of the comic book I started doing with <user site="livejournal.com" user="swisssean"> when we were first going out. pipu is the name of the main character (that's her in my userpic), kind of a chicken/peep/dog/wise fool/inquisitive child character. we're in the process of putting together a beautiful re-done pipu collection right now, and it will be out in February.?

Of course...

...I think you know where I got mine. The Persephone myth. The reason has to do with my chosen beliefs. I'm not really Wiccan but I am Pagan, and for some reason Persephone and the tragic story, the pomengranite seeds, and the changing of the seasons all moved me, so I chose her and The Cat (spirit guide) as my guides, in a manner of speaking.

So, there ya be.

I was a HUGE Cure fan. Ahhhh, memories. When did you graduate from High School? Where you a freakey-weirdo too, like me?

Well, I graduated in '92, but it wasn't till about '95 (in college) that I became a Cure fan. I was a nerd in high school, with truly bad taste in music. (Think "hair bands"...) Then in college I played at being a Goth-lite, though I've never fit neatly into any category...so yeah, freaky-weirdo. :)
