You. Yes, you. How and why did you select your username, if you don't mind sharing? (Ignore if patently obvious; e.g., "Uh, it's my actual name.")
I'll get the ball rolling.
LemonLye is the proper way to write my nick, but LJ doesn't allow capital letters. This was one of my first chat nicknames, chosen about six years ago when I was way, way into The Cure. Source: their song "The Caterpillar"; lyric: "Dust my lemon lies with powder pink and sweet..." I originally was LemonLie, but later tweaked the spelling, just to be cute. It has proved a handy username at lots of websites, since generally nobody has ever registered it before.
Isn't that fascinating? OK, your turn.

Date: 2002-12-03 06:01 pm (UTC)Later on, I discovered that while it had, for me, sci fi geeky origin, it's also a city in Turkey, which is cool. Nicosia.
And the velvet underground had a person in their band, Nico. Since I like the band, that's kinda cool.
I much prefer Nico to my real name now.

Date: 2002-12-03 11:08 pm (UTC)in regards to mine,i'm sure you can figure out where i got took.
as for tavie,i wanted a scottish first name and not only did i like how it sounded, especially with took, but it is a derivation of tavish, which means twin and i'm a gemini,so i thought that was cool. i like how it can also be short for octavia, because 8's are supposed to figure prominently in my numerology or something...i was born on the 17th...plus i also like that an 8 sideways looks like the symbol for infinity.

Date: 2002-12-04 06:07 am (UTC)Ages ago, when I first started using the internet, I signed up at Delphi Forums. I tried some usernames but they'd all been taken. I put in "Rachel" and it said I couldn't have that, but gave me a selection of rachelxxxx so I just picked one at random. I use it here too so I don't have to remember lots of logins.
What a dull story.

Date: 2002-12-04 11:51 am (UTC)Of course. I think they packaged them together with the Cure, at the record stores... "Oh, buying a copy of 'Disintegration'? Then you better take 'The Queen is Dead,' too..." :) Have a couple of Morrissey's solo albums, too--very similar.

Date: 2002-12-04 09:53 am (UTC)So, there ya be.
I was a HUGE Cure fan. Ahhhh, memories. When did you graduate from High School? Where you a freakey-weirdo too, like me?
Re: Of course...
Date: 2002-12-04 01:20 pm (UTC)Well, I graduated in '92, but it wasn't till about '95 (in college) that I became a Cure fan. I was a nerd in high school, with truly bad taste in music. (Think "hair bands"...) Then in college I played at being a Goth-lite, though I've never fit neatly into any category...so yeah, freaky-weirdo. :)
