In an interesting twist on the usual ubiquitous acronym, my father-in-law found this one:

MOL is a Japanese shipping corporation and their letters stand for "Mitsui O.S.K. Lines," the "OSK" standing in turn for "Osaka Shosen Kaisha." So what we have is an acronym within an acronym. I find this intriguing.

Can you think of any others?

Way back in the Days of Yore, I worked for "Kodak Imaging Services", informally known as KIS. After we were acquired and merged out of business, we became KIS Imaging Services for a while, since we were no longer part of Kodak, but wanted a familiar name for existing customers.

And yes, I did get an ungodly amount of teasing from some people who asked why I worked for "Kodak Imaging Services Imaging Services." :-)

Got one for you: CERFP.
That's a U.S. military acronym for CBRNE Enhanced Response Force Package.
CBRNE is an acronym for Chemical Biological Radiological Nuclear Explosive OR Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear and High-Yield Explosives OR Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear and Enhanced Conventional Weapons.
Or, in simple English, nothing good.

Great one! That's a mouthful and a half, even in its acronym state.

Thanks Jim!

SAS = Serial Attached SCSI, or Serial Attached Small Computer System Interface.

Where are the acronym police when you need them.

How about AWA?
This is actually two acronyms within an acronym .
AWA is an acronym for "ACRONYMS WITHIN ACRONYMS"; the title of this discussion.
Does that count? One could even argue that there are an infinite number of acronyms within the acronym AWA.
