I sympathize. Much as I like some features of winter, it isn't long before I start pining for spring every year. Mild days, warmish rain, flowers, new leaves--yeah, I'm a fan of the gentle seasons. Summer and winter are too dramatic. :)

I love summer because I like going outside without having to listen to the weather first. but my favourite season is spring, when everything is melting and I come home everyday soaked to the knees. And the beach is always empty :)

Looks generally like an apple blossom, with the five-petal configuration, etc., but impossible to tell more without a view of the leaves and a better view of the bark.

Aren't many leaves to speak of at the moment. But it smells rather like an apple blossom, too, to the degree that it smells like anything. Crabapple maybe?...

Could be apple, but I'm guessing cherry. My apple tree had softer, rounder blossoms with quite a bit more pink in them, but then that could just be the difference between different types of apple tree. The flowers actually look more like the flowering cherry trees we have here in southern CA. However, if the blossoms reek and the tree has glossy, round medallion-shaped leaves then it is this weird species of flowering tree that they planted here a LOT back about ten years ago. Just lovely in spring and autumn (the leaves turn bright red and orange and stay on the tree for a long time) but like I said, the flowers smell like ass. And I have no idea what type of fruit they are supposed to produce, as I have never noticed them to have any. Maybe it's some type of unassuming berry that just blends in.

Hehe...nope, doesn't smell like ass. Hardly smells like anything, but when it's warm enough the tree does smell generally sweet and sort of grassy, like the apple and pear trees my parents have. I considered cherry or plum, though, too. There are so many species of those, it seems likely enough. Hoping it won't drop sticky fruits all over the deck...
