Quick! Name the three biggest events/ news stories from 2000 to the present. Doing a very sketchy "at this time in history" for the company annual meeting, and covered the '40s through the '90s. Now they want me to finish the job and do the '00s. Here's the catch: one should be a "fun" thing. Thus, Iraq, 9/11, and tsunamis are a bit of a "downer" trio. So uh...something more positive/fun? Also welcoming suggestions other than Iraq, 9/11, and tsunamis for the serious ones.

(Past examples include: fall of Berlin wall, walking on moon, launch of MTV, cloning of sheep, and invention of first digital computer.)

Thanks.

After posting this I noticed I had about half an hour left before going home, so I threw together slides of 9/11, soldiers in Iraq, and the Red Sox winning the World Series. BUT, I will keep that link handy, since I'm sure they will want me to change something, probably repeatedly. I like the iPod idea. I almost put the launch of the Apple IIc as one of the prime events of the '80s...

Hee - yes, could possibly do "world freaks out about Y2K; nothing happens." :)

LOTR came out :D Most important.

Then of course the obvious, like you said: 9/11, bin Laden, Iraq... and then there's No Child Left Behind, Patriot Act, Scott Peterson, Micheal Jackson, the Janet Jackson thing, Dan Rather, the elections...

Heheh--the first thing I suggested for a "fun" 2000-2005 event was LOTR sweeping the Oscars. "Well, it was Academy Award history," I defended, but they rightly enough figured I was somewhat biased in finding this a great event. Fine.

Yes, the trick is narrowing it down to just three. Hmm, wonder how they'd like it if I put Janet Jackson's breast on a Powerpoint presentation for the entire company...

It indeed IS Academy Award history! It brought a revolution to Hollywood! A fantasy movie won 11 oscars! That is indeed worth mention *nod*

*snorts* I'm sure the guys will be fine with it... *snortgiggle*

Mars exploration! (Carefully omitting, of course, mention of the landers that went SPLAT instead of exploring anything...)

Oh yes - I used the Pathfinder landing for the '90s. Got to include space travel whenever I can!

This has absolutlely nothing to do with this post, however, I wanted to show you THIS (http://www.starfiction.com/hcvalentines.html). I know it's a tad bit untimely, but I thought you'd enjoy it!
