If the "other guys" win on Election Day, I will not:

- Move to another country, nor even claim I want to
- Say "He's not MY president"
- Rant about how we're all going to be dead, in concentration camps, living under the eye of Big Brother, starving in the streets, and/or under martial law before the 4 years are up
- Call my fellow voters stupid (or worse) for their choices
- Delete my LJ or abandon it in disgust (though I might abandon it because I happen to be busy)
- Say I no longer like or recognize this country
- Cease speaking to anyone, nor drop any of my hobbies and loves, nor change what I eat for breakfast, based on the outcome of this election

Can you post the above in your journal, and follow it?
Not saying you have to. Just wondering: can you?

(Really, dudes: 8 years of Reagan didn't destroy us. 8 years of Clinton didn't destroy us. Not even a freaking Civil War destroyed us. And if you give up on liking America because of the headlines on Nov. 3, then...say it with me...the terrorists will have won!)

No, I can't post it. Because I'm working on a novel that violates number 3 right now.

No I can't. I made the decision a long time ago that if Kerry wins, I'm going to make a post in [livejournal.com profile] liberal every month about how "oMg oH nOeS kRRy iz teh STALIN!!!!" ;)

I can most certainly post it on LJ. If it applied to real life... ;)

*hugs you for being so sensible* This is why you and I can be on opposite sides and still get along.

...and hey! on a random note, these sunflower seeds are soggy, and that's creeping me out! *eyes them*

Can and did. :) I'd at one point considered a temporary deletion of my journal, but not anymore.

Yes... I can and will.

Excellent post.

I apparently reeeally missed something. Everything okay over there?
*finds you some non-soggy sunflower seeds, and some hobbits and things* :)

Hah! No, sorry. I cannot tell a lie. My countrymen are stupid.

AMEN! I hate all this "your" president, "my" president nonsense. We have one, disagree if you want, but he's still the president.

Rock on, Molly! It's so posted in my journal now. It's ridiculous how people are willing to give up on such a great nation just because their guy didn't win. I won't say that it's not a big deal who wins, because it really is. Either way, it can and will change the future of our entire country, but you're right...we've survived worse. HELLO, we kicked the asses of the entire British military and won our independence, we can get through just about any administration they throw at us!

I can still say "He's not who IIIII voted for",

Right?

I've been thinking about this since I saw it in [livejournal.com profile] baranduin's journal.

I don't honestly think I can post this. Most of it? Sure. Why would I stop eating my usual breakfast? :)

But some of these things I am quite honestly worried about. I worry about no-fly lists and open-ended detentions. I work in a school with several Arab-American students, and I look at them and worry about how many of my fellow Americans would sacrifice these kids for the illusion of "doing something". Not because they are stupid or evil or whatnot (they aren't) but because they are human and want to be safe.

So, I respectfully salute this meme, but I cannot propagate it.

Oh my God, I want Kerry to win but thank you for not being a complete flipping nutjob. Somebody else on my friendslist just posted that line from the end of Poe's "The Masque of the Red Death" -- you know, "And Darkness and Decay and the Red Death held illimitable dominion over all" -- and said "This is what I fully expect to find when I wake up tomorrow if Bush wins." And they were serious.

From nutjobs and wackos and things that go bump in the night, good Lord, protect me.

Heheh. Oh, I know. I saw this article in (I think) a San Francisco paper, saying that 4 more years of Bush will mean a reversion to the 1950s--no no (they corrected themselves), the 1350s--in terms of women's rights. And they appeared to be serious too.

Must say, I sure have great internet access here in this locked garrett of mine. Looks like you do too. Gosh, hope they don't take that away from us, or all we'd have left to do is mend our stockings and give birth. ;)

Btw, once again, thank you and your brave buddies for voluntarily taking up military service. I know you can find plenty of examples of people who are buttheads in the armed forces, but they're all still braver than me and I'm glad they're around. You rock!
