Dress rehearsal for Halloween tonight.

I like this one because you can see the important accoutrements - Sting, leaf pin, Ring, pointy ear (eeee, I *heart* my prosthetic pointy ears)...

But this one has better lighting, and you can see the hobbit trousers. (Brown velvet capri pants; just what everyone needs!) And how 'bout them flipflops? How's that for authenticity?

I do plan to stick hair (wig cuttings) to my feet with spirit gum, but didn't bother doing so tonight. I figured I looked sexeh enough as it was.

Yeah, okay, some women would have been Eowyn or Galadriel or something. But you knew I was a geek long ago. Besides, I just wanted to carry the Ring. Don't we all? Preccccioussss?

Molly, you are the coolest geek ever. Ev. Er. I worship you and hold you as the Geekiest of Them All! *falls to knees*

Too bad you live nowhere near me. I'd give you some good candy for that costume ;)

Ah, where, oh WHERE did you get that costume?? I've got all the accessories: cloak, broach, ring on a chain--I've even got an actual model of Sting (as in, one that cost me upwards of $75) WITH a scabbord, but no pants, shirt or weskit. (Or wig, come to think of it). *sighs mournfully* I don't suppose it matters, as I'm too old to trick-or-treat and I've not been invited to any Halloween parties anyway. :)

But as for YOU, my lovely, you look amazing. Will we get to see a picture of you with your feet all furred? ^_^

Aww, thanks, dude. No need to worship - I'll just take the candy. ;)

Heheh! Your icon is too funny. Love those cute dorks.

I already had the shirt, vest, and belt just from my own wardrobe. Probably easy enough to find at a thrift store - a billowy women's white blouse can be passable as a Shire-shirt. For the pants, I bought brown velvet trousers at the thrift store, and cut them off below the knee. Instant Frodo breeches!

Had to borrow Sting and the Ring from my nephew, though. :) I'm very tempted to buy a Ring for my own jewelry collection - and Sting with a scabbard sounds quite droolworthy!

Hehe...I doubt my hair-covered feet will be all that attractive, but I'll try to get a picture.

You look very cute!

What will you be doing for Halloween? Or is this just for wearing about the house...? ;)

Most excellent!

I would so go for hobbit if I were not soooooo tall. So instead I keep being Eowyn and Galadriel. I'm starting a new Galadriel project for Trilogy Tuesday. And I'm thinking of copying Cate's trick of high boots to make me Even Taller.

That's great! I'd dress as Frodo, too.

Hehe - well, they're encouraging people to dress up for work, so there's that during the day. Then at night I'm going out with some folks to a restaurant where there's a yearly costume contest, so that's good people-watching.

Then the rest of the year, I'll just wear it around the house. ;)

I still want all of Eowyn's clothes. And if I had your sewing skills, I might attempt them! Alas, I do not...

"Shire Chic." Hee. I like that.

Yeah, it's probably more like obsession than narcissism. :)

Love the costume. Shire Chic indeed.

Despite my LotR fanaticism I'm actually dressing as a slutty Xena (or Callisto, technically, as the outfit's black and silver). I have to admit that I chose it mostly because I already have a leather corset and huge boots - I just had to make the kirtle (skirt) and accesories, which I only made this afternoon. Geek that I am I'm using a frisbie as a chakram. Oh, and I might strap on one of my real swords, just to defend myself against evil children bearing tricks.

In case I hadn't mentioned, hobbit suits you :)

You might not say that if you just sat here and watched me pick a mistake out of my Galadriel dress for two hours...

Nothing wrong with a bit of narcissism every now and again. Like altering a photo to make out with yourself in drag.

You make an excellent Frodo, dear! Very cute!

heheh...a frisbee with duct tape to make it silver, I hope. :) Sounds pretty cool. I bet after this Troy movie we'll be seeing a lot more costumes along those lines.

The photo is of Linda Evangelista. I think it was used in an ad for perfume or something. I'm always on the lookout for genderqueer coolness in mainstream media. Call it a hobby.

"It's a hobby."

Hehe! Thanks.

Done having conversations with ourselves,

So cool. Great neck-clasp. Also, great neck. Maybe this just proves I'm still a guy, or not pervy Hobbit-fancying enough, but EW just doesn't quite look that cute. Although, without further evidence to the contrary, I think he still has you beat on tortured, soulful gazing at the horizon.

There may be 1 decent picture of me in my own costume. If so I will post it.

Thanks! Yeah, I need to get a One Ring replica of my own. That was a toy version borrowed from my nephew. :)

Heheh - aww, thanks. Yes, I do hope that straight guys would find me better-looking than E.W. If they don't, then I'm really not doing my job. I don't think I've gotten a neck compliment before, though. That's pretty cool! I like the unusual ones...

He definitely has me beat on the gazing. You need those big freaky blue eyes to pull it off. I tried for a minute or two, in the mirror, to replicate the troubled/tortured/haunted look on the posters, holding up the Ring and so forth, but just couldn't capture it.

Do post! I want to see how the Elvis Costello costume turned out. :)

You look so cute, Molly! Did your husband go as Sam? Either way, you do look quite sexeh!

When I was flying Air New Zealand they had a magazine on the plane with tons of LOTR memorabilia. They had a lot of swords and an exact replica of THE RING! If I had the money I would have snatched it up.

He did not go as Sam, though I would have loved that. ;) I did see a guy dressed as Aragorn. We did the point-smile-wave thing at each other.

I still want a Ring replica of my own...
