Woohoo! It's my birthday, and it's Friday, and it's cloudy. Thank you, weather gods. (Don't feel bad if you didn't know or remember. I didn't put the date on my userinfo, and I don't stand much on these Hallmark holidays anyhow.)

However, what I want to know is: what would you all get me, if money and influence were no object? Yes yes, I know, you'd fly me to New Zealand where the four hobbit actors and Orlando Bloom, in costume, would each give me a long kiss and a shoulder massage, and would each then tell the press that I'm the best kisser they ever encountered and that I'm also a fabulous writer who deserves widespread mass-market publication. BUT, getting beyond that, what else would you give me?

Be creative here. Think large. Gift me British Columbia and Alberta tied together in a nice purple ribbon, for instance. Or get on the web and find me a good-looking Gothic castle with a dungeon. Or the world's largest cruise ship, stocked with expensive chocolate in cold storage. You get the idea.

Happy birthday, Molly! If money were no object...I would fly you to Mars to check out how frickin' bright the Earth is as the two planets "inch" ever closer to each other over this next week. Then I'd point out the stars and let you choose a dozen to be your very own, to shine on you and smile on you all night long for the rest of your life.

Last time I heard anyone make comments like that it was because they were lamenting getting older and getting huffy with anyone who worked out that said person was getting older. :)

Well, I count Valentine's Day and Father's Day and so forth in the Hallmark holidays, so it's not just about me getting older. It's more about your other point - too much trouble to do anything about these occasions, and I never know what people want in terms of presents.
