Elijah Wood is supposed to be on Primetime Glick, on Comedy Central, sometime this season. I'm looking forward to this inordinately much. I must admit a silly fondness for Martin Short, probably dating back to childhood days of Three Amigos fandom. (Also, I'm pleased to hear that he'll be playing the Gene Wilder part in the L.A. stage version of The Producers. He seems enough of a spaz to pull it off.)

Anyway, I like to think the interview will go something like this:

Jiminy Glick: In Lord of the Rings you play a homosexual, is that right?
Elijah Wood: Uh...no...I play a hobbit...
JG: But isn't there a relationship - with a gardener, I believe?
EW: With Sam. Well, Sam and Frodo are very close; they have this amazing bond; but I don't think it's portrayed as a gay relationship...
JG: It's rather incestuous, though, isn't it?
EW: Well – they're not related. Sam and Frodo aren't related...
JG: Everyone's related in tiny villages like that. Now, has it been disappointing for you, that you haven't been able to work with dolphins in any recent films, the way you used to?...

And, yeah, Elijah would be lucky to get away with so little teasing. :) I can't believe celebrities willingly sign up for that show, sometimes. Makes me wonder how much is scripted and how much is sprung upon them as a surprise.

Yes; my mistake. I had seen a clip about it on an entertainment-news show, and understood it to be a movie. Seems it's just the L.A. stage production. Post has been edited to fix that tidbit.

While on the LOTR note (even though totally off the topic)....I really need less medication, or maybe more...after reading everyone's parodies and slash, I had this "vision" that both revolts and amuse...before I tell it though, I need to explain something: in South Africa we have a brand of women's stockings called Cameo.

Imagine a LOTR parody made into a movie or an advert with Gollumn doing a "cameo" appearance, which is a rip-off of a Cameo stockings advert for a non-existing range called "Appearance".

You see these hands slide up a pair of legs clad in fishnet stockings and then zoom out to show Gollum all dressed up in drag and fishnet stockings, muttering "Fisshhhhhnet, yessss my precioussssss" with a voice-over mumbling something about Appearances being deceiving....

I love Gene Wilder. Brilliant. Matthew Broderick did a wonderful job on Broadway, but still, no one can ever beat Gene.

It's sort of a spoof of a talk show, except he does interview real celebrities. Martin Short (actor), in a fat suit and using a wimpy/lispy voice, conducts silly and inadvertently insulting conversations with his guests. (e.g., when talking to Jeff Goldblum: "Jurassic Park, we didn't get to that. That must have been a big payday. Ka-ching, ka-ching! Every time one of those mechanical things nipped at your butt you made another million." :)

Someone did a photo-manipulation several months back of Gollum in Lara Flynn Boyle's (extraordinarily skinny actress) gown at the Oscars, or perhaps the Emmys or something. It was disturbing, yet amusing.

As a dedicated Mel Brooks fan, I too adore Gene Wilder. He was even kinda cute in Young Frankenstein...;)

Matthew Broderick is lovely and cute too, of course, but in a slightly less unique way.

Indeed he was! And he was wonderfully energetic as Willy Wonka. A brilliant and funny man.

I LOVE Mel Brooks. I've seen Spaceballs, Men in Tights, The Producers, Blazing Saddles, History of the World Part I, Young Frankenstein, The Twelve Chairs, and part of Dracula: Dead and Loving It -- someday my goal is to see every one of his films! :D
