Haven't posted in a week or more, mostly because I only post when I have something relatively illuminating to say, and there hasn't been much lately. I've been reading the posts on my friends list, though, and rest assured I still like you and have been mostly agreeing with and/or sympathizing with you all this week.

So here's my contribution for you today, since it seems what people need most is a laugh: Found a pretty amusing parody of the second (i.e., latest) Star Wars film. The authors also did a Phantom Menace one. I've only seen these films once each, and had forgotten how much they sucked. The second was better, of course, but that ain't sayin' much.

No offense to anyone. Except Jar-Jar, who, I'm totally serious, was one of the worst ideas in the history of cinema. I have a friend (maybe "friend" is the wrong word) who likes to make jokes in Jar-Jar dialect, and Photoshop Jar-Jar into LOTR scenes, and so forth, and really, it's not funny. Jar-Jar is so annoying, such behavior is just wrong and awful and infuriating and must stop at once.

But anyway. Here's my favorite excerpt from the "Attack of the Clones" parody:
YODA, doing lightsaber drills with a pack of kindergartners: Good, younglings.  Whoa, watch where you point that you must!  Get a new cat we will.  Billy, pulling hair of Susie stop you must.  Dougie, spit out that gum you will.

*grin*

P.S. Elijah fans, of which there are just a few among you (heh): supposedly the E! network will have some show today (and will be re-running it tomorrow or the next day) about young Hollywood actors, which will feature Lij among others. Check local listings, etc. etc. End public service announcement.

Jar-Jar is evil. He's evil and wrong and beyond loathing. I can't tell you how excited I was by the fact that there would be new Star Wars movies. I got teary when I saw the first teaser. I got teary when I saw the "Lucasfilm" logo and heard the theme music. It upsets me beyond belief that Lucas is so enamored with special effects that he seemed to forget that there should be a plot. I actually own both of them, more out of a loyalty to the series, hope that the third will be redemptive, and a love of Ewan McGregor than for any true love of those particular movies.

By the way, I love your icon. I got to see the Monkees when they toured in '86. I watched them every single Saturday morning when I was young, and lived for them when they started showing them again in the 80's.

I added you to my friend's list. I hope you don't mind.

I always found this (http://www.netscrap.com/netscrap_detail.cfm?scrap_id=820) parody to be rather good : )

Hee, thanks. This is my silliest icon, so I hoped it would cheer up a few people - those "in the know," at least.

Yes, you can almost see the despair in Ewan's eyes, can almost hear him thinking: "I'm a good actor. I'm in great little artsy films, usually. I've got Alec Guinness's voice down pat. But it's all a waste. All they've done is put me on a blue screen with the worst haircut ever...why did I agree to do this?"

Ooh, and much more concise, too. I like it. :)

LOL!
Yeah, Jar Jar's a catastrophe. And that's still an insult to all catastrophes ever. I still dream about a DVD with a "swith off Jar jar" function... *g*

Another Episode II poster parody that's oh so sadly true:

Yeah, seen it up on the wall in my department at the university.

Interesting, from someone who was just pointing out (http://www.livejournal.com/talkread.bml?journal=lemonlye&itemid=26590&thread=417758) that Tolkien didn't appreciate modern political allegory applied to his stories... :P (a point which I try to respect, btw. Would drive me nuts if people kept applying all my stories to their own political ends.)

Yeah well, considering Lucas didn't name Nute Gunray (the alien with no nostrils who looks like Ronald Reagon) like that just out of pure fantasy. If you change the syllables, you get "Raygun", which sounds surprisingly much like Reagan, doesn't it? Now if that isn't a political statement... *g* (Lucas confirmed that that was intentional, so I'm not just making this up). Tolkien said he didn't mean his stuff allegorical. Lucas didn't, and he even makes his own political jokes. That's the main difference...
But right, it would drive me crazy too. I'm sorta ambiguous here, I know. I think it's damn funny, but well, if I were in the place of this or that person, I sure would hate it. *sigh*
Being human, isn't it... ;)
