LJ doesn't like most of those either, incidentally. But it allows some of them to pass without the red underlining, so it's apparently a step hipper than MS Word.

I always thought yay was a word? Well, LJ doesn't like it.

"LJ" and "Livejournal" also get the red underline treatment from LJ, funnily enough!

Of course, the Word/LJ suggestions can be pretty amusing. What is this "nutjob" of which you speak? Perhaps you mean "nautical," or even "notebook."

I'm particularly fond of some of LJ's "ringtone" alternatives:

rhinestone, rigatoni, ranting, renting, rinding, Ringling, monotone, rundown, Rangoon, ruination, vintner, printing, wringing, redone

Or its "slimeball" options:

slumber, somberly, summable, claimable, solemnly, stumble, cymbal, symbol, blamable, salable, solvable, flammable, smellable, soluble, syllable

Gawd, you're such a SYLLABLE!

*shrug*
What is or isn't a word is not as clear-cut as dictionary writers want to believe, anyway!

Hah. You'd think they'd fix that one...

Heh! Vintner? Flammable? Wow. Those are stretches. I need to reactivate the "suggestions" option--I unclicked it at some point, but I miss the comedy.

My husband emailed me from work the other week (he's an environmental scientist) to tell me, "For 'subduction zone,' Word suggests 'seduction zone.'" That would certainly change the report.

Technically a trademark name, sure, but I'd have thought it had crossed over into public domain by now, or near enough...

ROFLMAO

Does anyone use "grody" anymore? I thought that went out when we were kids!

I wondered about that too. Only used it once, so it's easily removed if it's out of date. But then again, with all the '80s fashions coming back in force, you never know!
