It's all right, we've all been busy and/or lazy, but I'll get off my rear and remind you: please send in your Raven lines! I've only gotten a couple so far. They're males with nice voices, so I'm not complaining, but the poem's sounding pretty incomplete.

We were out of town for a few days, staying at a cabin of my husband's coworker, out in central Washington. Aside from pines and horses and snow-dusted mountains, I saw, to my delight, stars. I do love living beneath the clouds in the city lights here, but I miss stars. I went outside into the pitch black outside the cabin Tuesday night, and stood groping and inching forward, blinking like a blind thing. A glare lay over my eyes, somehow red and green at the same time; I began to fear my night vision was gone for good after all this city living. But lo! It cleared. And there they were. The stars. Thousands of them.

And the Milky Way! I hadn't seen it for years. Absolutely gorgeous. I leaned back on the hood of the car like a drunken teenager and just gazed. Ahhh.

So. Ahem. Please record your lines. Thanks! Enjoy your weekend.

[blushes] Thank you! My dream job would be to be a voice actor.

That's okay; people with little kids are always allowed more time. :)

That does sound fun. I wonder if it's hard to break into?

I'd enjoy being a dialect coach. Maybe someday we'll work together. :)

Did you assign lines already? Did I miss it?

Edit: Found them. Should have it emailed to you by Monday.

No worries! I'm all caught up in a number of things myself. And having small children does complicate matters. :)

Btw, must thank you for two recommendations of things I'm enjoying lately:

1) Twin Peaks - we're in the middle of the first season, and are quite drawn in. I adore McLachlan as Cooper--so gleeful and funny! And yep, I recognize the "Great Northern"; we had some Christmas dinners there.

2) Brite's Lost Souls - I'm about halfway through it, and it's much better than I expected. Yes, exceedingly '80s-Goth, but that's rather cute actually. I'm finding Zillah oddly hot, despite his being a total monster. Wonder if there's ever going to be a movie? Hmm...must go look that up.

Last time I heard, both the The Lost Souls and Drawing Blood films films had fallen through. :)

Quite unfortunate. I will always have a soft spot in my heart for Ghost and Christain and even poor little Nothing. Zillah is great as well. It is that book that caused me to favor Chartreuse as a favored tumbler (that was until an unfortunate event which dealt with drinking far too much of it in one setting). I also took to absinthe laced with wormwood for awhile and I can trace that, too, to Brite's writing.

Oh, some stories I could tell about those days. :)

Glad you like Twin Peaks.

LOL at the Cooper/Audrey OTP icon. Awesome. (I may have more to say on that once I'm through the whole series, of course...)

I admit, I'm now curious what Chartreuse tastes like. I've heard absinthe is nasty, but never tried that either.

Zillah would be a good one-night stand (and apparently he often is), but yes, Ghost or Christian are much more marriage material. ;)
