I'm years behind on sharing files with the world, so please tell me, loves: On a site like YouSendIt, how do you set things up to make a file available to any who wish to download it? If another site would be better for this, please let me know.

I hope to use such a site for the final Operation Ichabod sound file, which ought to be the length of a modern pop song, depending how fast or slow you guys talk.

Speaking of which: hey! Record your lines, dang it!

:)

If it's the size of a normal song, then I'd use SendSpace.com -- my friend sends me music files via that all the time, and they're fast and easy. Just go to the site, pick you file, you can choose to send it to an email address or not, and you'll get a link at the end. :) Very simple!

YSI only holds the file for a few days. I use SendSpace for things that I want to send to people. For this project, I think they'd be better. :)

I can host it on my personal site, if you want. That way I can even tell you how many people listen to it. ;-)

Sendspace links expire...you also could use box.net - as long as the files aren't that big you can get a free account and keep the links up for as long as you want.

Hm, if there's a lot of traffic will we easily overload it? If not, this might be a good solution. I didn't originally think I cared about how many people heard it, but now I of course am curious. :)

Not a problem. It's a 100MB connection, with oodles of bandwidth to spare.

I'd recommend MediaFire, as long as your file is smaller than 100MB, since files stay up indefinitely.

Sounds like a good option. Cheers!

Sounds that way. I'll check it out and let you guys know where to get the file ultimately!

Huh, cool. Shall have to investigate that as well!

I may well send it to you, then, while putting it somewhere else too as a mirror. Thanks much!

Awesome. Sounds like a good deal. Heh, it better be smaller than 100 MB or I'll have done something really wrong!

Kim and I would be willing to host the file on our ten-fifteen.com domain if you would like.

That way you don't have to worry about link expiration and such...

I'm finally getting together a mollyringle.com domain (cheesy, but it's the kind of thing writers are supposed to do, apparently), and have stuck the file over there. But since you're featured in it, feel free to host it for posterity if you like. :)

Btw, thanks again for reading on the project!
