Shoe fetish
Sep. 21st, 2007 12:59 pmA two-in-one! Baby photo, and shot of my short-but-shapely legs in my Dansko sandals.
The baby portion: Z likes to put on shoes, including other people's. Those are Steve's flip-flops, and he (Z) actually managed to walk around the kitchen in them for a little while.
The sandals: I generally have a terrible time finding sandals that don't chafe or blister my poor feet, but these have been an absolute winner. If you're in desperation to find a comfortable pair of sandals that give good arch support, are kind to your skin, and don't look like Birkenstocks--and if you're willing to pay for 'em--I highly recommend the Dansko Lolita. (Ebay often has them for cheaper, if you know your size already.) Many thanks to my sister
peggycafecafe for steering me toward Danskos.
Now...what kind of freaks will be attracted here because of my subject title?

Date: 2007-09-22 10:59 am (UTC)Also, I wanted to note: I'm going through your story chapter by chapter with some things I've noticed. I'll shoot you off an email in the near future. I hope you don't mind the fact that I'm doing this. Reading it and engaging in a workshop style session has been fun. I haven't done that in ages. :)

Date: 2007-09-22 04:51 pm (UTC)Z. looks like the hubby in that photo.
Yet more shocking evidence that Steve might actually be the father, rather than, you know, a UPS driver, or some teenager I molested, or one of my in-laws... ;)

Date: 2007-09-22 05:46 pm (UTC)I'm amused that a generation ago it used to be "the mailman", but now it's "The UPS Man". ( Katy and I use that one too. ;-) )

And here I had forgotten all about *that*. At least the speculation aimed at you had a Penthouse Forum vibe to it. All I got were statements noting how much my child looked like the very person making the statements in the first place. You, at least, got to have some sort of crazy-off-your-rocker-bastard-siring fun in his speculations that we can joke about now-- I've got a bitter old lady up North speculating if she has an illegitimate grandchild somewhere below the Mason-Dixon line. :P

It was one of my favorite parts! Really encapsulated the total disconnect in how we viewed each other. If he really believed those notions, he clearly didn't know me that well after all; and my being so shocked to hear about it shows I didn't know him very well either.
I really hope he corrected his mom's misconception regarding you, at least. It would just be weird not to. Not saying "weird" is off the table here, of course...
