A two-in-one! Baby photo, and shot of my short-but-shapely legs in my Dansko sandals.

The baby portion: Z likes to put on shoes, including other people's. Those are Steve's flip-flops, and he (Z) actually managed to walk around the kitchen in them for a little while.

The sandals: I generally have a terrible time finding sandals that don't chafe or blister my poor feet, but these have been an absolute winner. If you're in desperation to find a comfortable pair of sandals that give good arch support, are kind to your skin, and don't look like Birkenstocks--and if you're willing to pay for 'em--I highly recommend the Dansko Lolita. (Ebay often has them for cheaper, if you know your size already.) Many thanks to my sister [livejournal.com profile] peggycafecafe for steering me toward Danskos.

Now...what kind of freaks will be attracted here because of my subject title?

I think your son would enjoy it!

Goodness! Z. looks like the hubby in that photo.

Also, I wanted to note: I'm going through your story chapter by chapter with some things I've noticed. I'll shoot you off an email in the near future. I hope you don't mind the fact that I'm doing this. Reading it and engaging in a workshop style session has been fun. I haven't done that in ages. :)

I know--I think he'll be taller than me by the time he's, like, 11. :)

Well, probably not that much, but I suspect he is sprouting upward. I've started to mark his height on the kitchen wall with a little penciled-in date to keep track. :)

Thank you! Good to see you, and hope all's well. I'm only sporadically on LJ myself...

Cool! I take any feedback I can get, and that of an advanced-level English teacher is especially valuable. You of course aren't obligated, though, so if you give up halfway, that's fine and you've still helped quite a lot. So thank you! :)

Z. looks like the hubby in that photo.

Yet more shocking evidence that Steve might actually be the father, rather than, you know, a UPS driver, or some teenager I molested, or one of my in-laws... ;)

I'm amused that a generation ago it used to be "the mailman", but now it's "The UPS Man". ( Katy and I use that one too. ;-) )

Generations from now, people will probably be pleased to find the marks, too. We have several doorjambs in our house with 50 year old height marks. I think it's neat!

I'm already up to chapter 10, so I may email those notes to you first.

And here I had forgotten all about *that*. At least the speculation aimed at you had a Penthouse Forum vibe to it. All I got were statements noting how much my child looked like the very person making the statements in the first place. You, at least, got to have some sort of crazy-off-your-rocker-bastard-siring fun in his speculations that we can joke about now-- I've got a bitter old lady up North speculating if she has an illegitimate grandchild somewhere below the Mason-Dixon line. :P

Hehe. "Dear Parenting magazine: I never thought these stories were real..."

And here I had forgotten all about *that*.

It was one of my favorite parts! Really encapsulated the total disconnect in how we viewed each other. If he really believed those notions, he clearly didn't know me that well after all; and my being so shocked to hear about it shows I didn't know him very well either.

I really hope he corrected his mom's misconception regarding you, at least. It would just be weird not to. Not saying "weird" is off the table here, of course...

I bet it's because UPS drivers tend to be guys, and tend to be good-looking, for whatever reason; whereas postal service workers are all over the map demographically. :)

And in our grandparents' generation it was "the milkman," and before that, "the footman," and before that, "the music teacher"...

That is cool! Gives the house a warm feeling of familial continuity (even if you never met the family), I'd guess.

Wow! I **JUST** finished a journal posting in which I digress from the topic to talk about the cute UPS guy who comes to my work! Crazy! .. or if you're an employee of UPS, then Crazy Hot!
