So, my 8 random facts:

1. As proof that I'm behind the times, I have never sent or received a text message on a cell phone.

2. As further proof of the same thing, up until about a year ago I thought "MySpace" was a file storage type of site. Which I guess it is, if you count skanky photos and long emo posts as files.

3. After reading about noctilucent clouds on SpaceWeather.com, and seeing photos of them, I thought, "Oh, sure, I've seen those plenty of times." I verified this the other night by looking out the window at twilight and spotting some. Sure, there they are; we get 'em all the time here, I figured. Then I found out I was just lucky, for these are fairly rare at this latitude. So what was I seeing before? Not-so-lucent clouds, evidently.

4. I think I have a bunion on one foot. I'm not sure what to do about that, but my mother-in-law has them and they've nearly crippled her on bad days. Greeeat.

5. I tend to like fantasy but not sci-fi; love stories but not romance novels; true crime but not mysteries. With exceptions for each, of course.

6. I like purple flowers best of all. Then blue. Then white. Then red or yellow. But fragrance is really more important than color.

7. I eat peanut butter with chocolate chips off a spoon (or a table knife) quite a lot. I maintain that this is a healthy snack.

8. I disapprove of most bumper stickers. They're a bad policy. Sooner or later, everyone, even you, does something annoying in traffic. At that point, those who agree with your bumper sticker will be dismayed because you're making their side look bad; and those who disagree with your bumper sticker will just hate you even more for it.

And now...I disobey the rules by not tagging anyone, but inviting anyone to take part who wants to. I have a cold; I get to bow out early.

Ah, fun meme! I will have to ponder posting my own list. :-) I enjoyed reading through your responses. Ditto what you said about the bumper stickers, absolutely! And mmm, peanut butter and chocolate chips. That sounds very tasty. :-)

Ugh. I hope you feel better soon. I have a cold too. As Stephen King once wrote, summer colds are the worst.

...And, I think I have a bunion too. My feet look like the wicked step-sisters' feet in Disney's version of Cinderella.

Hehe--I tend to think of The Stand too when I get a cold in the summer. Luckily this one is already almost gone, thus evidently not a plague. The annoying thing is the inevitability of catching it when the baby has it before you. Hard to avoid when the infected person is sneezing in your eye and trying to stick drool-covered fingers up your nose. :)

Bunions are apparently very common, and as far as I can tell there isn't always much you can do about them, although sometimes surgery helps. Yay. Suppose I'll actually ask my doctor about it someday, if I happen to think of it while I'm there...

1. I hate texting and had never sent a text message in my life until last year at Comic Con when I was trying to coordinate lunch with izhilzha. Haven't text-messaged since, either. Hooray for being behind the times!

8. I feel the same way about bumper stickers (which is why I have no ichthys fish on my bumper). Like you say, sooner or later I'm going to do something idiotic with my car, and my religion generates all the bad press it needs on its own. My help is not necessary.

Cell phones: Oh yes! Having recently been in a situation with a person who felt obliged to respond to text messages every few minutes while we were together at a restaurant, I've concluded that I simply can't stand the things. Unless I'm calling a tow-truck, in which case they're wonderful and indispensable.

Personally, I'd be happy with a $75 cell phone that only makes phone calls - no texting, and especially no camera. I occasionally need to meet with people in buildings that have "no camera" rules, and it's a pain to have to leave the phone in my car - particularly when the meetings are ones in which I *need* a private phone.

I kind of figure text messaging should be saved for really urgent communications in times when voice messages are impossible. Like if you're in the audience at a play, and waiting to hear about Aunt Maud's surgery or something. Otherwise...just make the dang call, people.

Glad you see the point about bumper stickers. Now if only I could convince all other philosophy followers.

Exactly. Aside from urgent situations, I don't *want* to be reachable at all times. But I suppose that's a personality difference between me and that type of person. :)

Heh; hadn't thought of that problem. Our phone has no camera, but it's still far more than we require. Same with the plan itself. We can't find a plan that just charges for the minutes you use (at least not one that would be any cheaper than what we've got), rather than for a set minimum of something like 500 minutes. We just never need that many--so rolling them over would be equally pointless.
