A coronal mass ejection is heading for Earth!

But that's a good thing. It may well mean auroras. You don't have to know much about atmospheric sciences or geomagnetics to know that today's chart of the planetary K-index, which is a good aurora indicator, definitely looks dramatic. (The bars are red! They're going up high!) Keep an eye on Spaceweather.com for details. Wow, Seattle is even supposed to have clear skies tonight. Incredible.

In other good news, I got a request to see the full manuscript of my Seattle-ghost-story novel, from one of the agencies I talked to at the writers conference in July. Stroke a rabbit's detached foot for me. Perform voodoo if that's more your style.

In lesser news, I am so tired. Lemondrop must be on a growth spurt or something. Or else it's all the socializing over the past weekend, and then Steve traipsing off to North Carolina for work right after that.

Then again, in 17 days we fly to Maui, so how bad could things really be right now? And I have dark-chocolate cheesecake in the fridge. Mmm.

P.S. Perfume note: under the lapel of my jacket today, I dabbed some Chanel Coco, and a bit of lavender fragrance oil. The mix is surprisingly good. The lavender grounds the Chanel nicely. Damn Chanel always smells good, though. Which I suppose is why it costs as much as plutonium.

Thanks! Yeah, we hardly ever get auroras in Seattle either; and if we do, it's usually cloudy. I've still never seen them. Here's hoping.

I bet even a virgin Mai-Tai is pretty good...

Happy Aurora watching to you. I'll check the sky when I get out of rehearsal tonight in NEPA but I doub't we'll be able to see anything. I just got done reading Relatively Honest for a second time. I made notes this time, so I will have an email to you soon with my responses. :-) Consider it a good sign I read it a second time, I almost NEVER read anythign more than once. Only exceptions being LOTR (once a year for the past 10 years, WOT (second time through currently), and a few plays...including Cyrano...How did you know that was my favoritest play and movie of all time??!! (1951 Jose Ferrer version, that is) Maui - wow. I think I'm a bit too big to fit in an overhead compartment anymore but heck, I'd consider it a vacation just to see the Pacific North West. I've never had the chance to travel out your way. That's all for now. Ciao.

Wow! I am flattered indeed. Looking forward to the comments--I'm pretty much never done revising a story, so feedback is always welcome.

Cyrano just rules. I am not sure why, it just does. I had to abandon WOT after book...7? 8? I forget now. I need to know there's an end in sight, and I wasn't getting that feeling. ;) But LOTR, heck yeah, worthy of multiple reads.

I've never been to Hawaii before, so this should be cool. Never been to your neck of the woods either, and in fact the general Northeast section of the U.S. is fairly high on our list of places to visit sometime.

"And then,as I end the refrain, thrust home!" Ack so many good lines! Even though I do mostly directing now, that is one of the few roles that would get me abck up on stage again. WOT currently has 10 books out....supposedly it is suppsoed to end in 12 books. The newest one is supposed to be out this year, so we'll see. If you decide to take a trip out this way, keep me posted. I also lived in NYC for a while, I'd be glad to show you guys around. =)

It's one of those ridiculously unneccissarily awkward sort of places: you konw, all clean and white, many students crammed in together, and NO TALKING! I'm sure I COULD laugh and no one would yell at me, but it would feel like a capital offence.

Maui soonnnnnnn! I hope you have the most amazing time! Look out for Dom Monaghan while you're in Hawaii. ;-) Take lots of photos!!! A friend of mine went to Oahu this past June and had the most amazing time. She said it was like heaven on earth.

Ooooh.....nice idea about the Coco Chanel and lavender! Mmmm. We should totally open up our own perfumery one day. ;-)

Didn't actually see any auroras. Apparently the only action was at about 3 a.m. Hrmph.

But yes, I'll certainly look for "Lost" cast members in Hawaii, or at least pretend I'm being chased by a mechanical monster in the forest. ;)

Thank you, hon....we're okay here. Conditions were breezy yesterday, as the storm was passing by in the Gulf....and I think some of the coastal regions, even down here, will have a bit of erosion. My heart goes out to the people in LA and MS, and along the northern gulf coast. Definitely praying...
