1) Favorite recent music group discoveries, in no particular order:
Stars (not to be confused with Trembling Blue Stars, but not unlike them)
The Veils
Pitty Sing

The Wedding Present (their new stuff, specifically)

2) There are certain sounds in Magnetic Fields' "69 Love Songs" CDs that might make you think that something is wrong with your car. I like listening to those CDs in the car, all the same.
3) When you have a headache or stomachache, a good remedy is to chew up, and swallow, a slice of fresh ginger root. This works because while you are busy thinking, "Holy &%$*&#!!! My mouth is on fire!!!" you will not give a thought at all to your headache or stomachache. *
*(I kid, to some extent. Ginger has been a long-reliable remedy for me. But some roots are way, way spicier than others. So beware.)
4) The Netflix Jude Law update: liked I Heart Huckabees. Didn't like Sky Captain. The former was too goofy not to appreciate (and actually it was Markie Mark who was the funniest, in my opinion); and the latter suffered from the Gwyneth Paltrow factor. She got an annoying character, in a kind of lame script, which led us to MST3k the whole thing. After yet another of her useless "Joe! Look out! They're right behind you!" or "Someone's been here before us!", we decided that he was Sky Captain and she was Captain Obvious.
